Economic Thinking Seminars

"… you asked who was the most productive/most efficient in the use of donated funds for educating students in free enterprise. In my judgment, the best by far is Greg Rehmke and his think tank www.economicthinking.org. Check him out.....Definitely worth a major donation. I don't know anyone who reaches out to more high school and college students with his "Economics in a Box" and his debate courses. He's constantly on the move... "

Letters about our Economics in a Box curriculum...from Larry who taught the course in Morristown, Tennessee

I struggled finding a good curriculum to use in teaching economics to my older children; I was unable to locate anything that systematically presented free market economics in a manner that was both interesting and intellectually robust. Finding Economics in a Box this year was a wonderful resolution to this struggle. The varied nature of the material makes it easy for the students to stay engaged, while exposing them not only to the basic tenets of economics, but also helping them to understand the real-world implications of what they are learning.

The videos are incredibly well done, while the written material is both clear and challenging -- appealing to a broad spectrum of learning types. The excellent syllabus also significantly decreased the preparation time that was required for the class. I have been delighted to highly recommend Economics in a Box whenever other parents have been looking for a good economics curriculum.

Written to Larry by about the class he taught...

Hi Larry,
I just wanted to thank you for the economics class you taught this year. The curriculum was well organized and not only did my son learn basic economic principles, but I myself learned more practical economic principles that will assist me in running my business and also make better informed decisions concerning public policy. I would recommend the course for anyone who really wants to “"understand" economics, make better personal, business or public economic decisions. If more people took this one course, their personal economic situation and our nation’s economic condition could only benefit.
Warm Regards,
Jon Eskola

From Melissa, a mom who took the course even though she didn´t have any kids in it!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Economics in a Box curriculum this year! I am a homeschooling mom of young children seeking to educate myself, and this curriculum fit the bill perfectly. I came away with the foundation I need to understand our current economic situation and intelligently educate my children. Since I completed this course, I confidently participate in conversations about economics which was something I previously avoided. This program is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!

One mom even wrote, "the class was good for our marriage."

Letter about our Economics in a Box curriculum

Dear Pam,
I was very excited to see that you were offering an economics class, and even more excited when I realized that the curriculum that you were using to teach it was one that you created - so your class had a lot to live up to, and it surpassed my expectations. I am very happy that my son got to take the class from you. He positively loved learning about economics through the wide range of resources that you compiled into Economics in a Box. He has always enjoyed learning from books, and the questions and writing assignments included in the curriculum helped to deepen his understanding. The audio-visuals in the course added to his understanding and helped him learn to apply economics to everyday life.
Thank you for writing this wonderful curriculum and for teaching economics to my son!
Sincerely,
Karen

Teach Africa...In China!

(It's a small, small world)

This testimonial from a parent who organizes Economic Thinking Seminars in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, sums up the far reaching affects of our work. Angelle High and her family had traveled to China to adopt a baby girl:

A couple of nights ago, our family was sitting in a Cantonese restaurant in Guangzhou, China.... Landon said, "It´s Mr. Greg!". There you were on a wide-screen television being interviewed... It's a small, small world. The restaurant was so noisy, that we could not tell what was being said, but I did see a podium sign that said, "Teach Africa".

The segment was from a Houston World Affairs Council program for high school students held earlier this year, and I was one of the presenters and happened to be interviewed by Voice of America.
