Ms. Megyesi tells students of the everyday difficulties under socialism in Hungary, and also the problems faced in the transition to a market economy. Economic principles are illustrated through active learning lessons that engage students and allow them to experience economic forces first-hand. Her experiences provide lively examples of the contrast between socialist promises and reality. In addition, her presentations offer students insights into the problems of the still-unfinished transition to a market economy in Hungary. With an emphasis on trade, international and environmental issues, her presentations are valuable for world history, international studies, economics and government classes.
